He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Wilks and Cleta Stepp Wilks; his son Jeremiah David Wilks; and his sister Loretta Gail Halfhill. He is survived by: his wife Faith Lyons Wilks; his daughter Rebecca; his son-in-law Michael Caldwell; his grandchildren, Cadence, Evan Caldwell, Gatlin and Mason Wilks; his daughter-in-law Indi Miller Ramsey; his siblings, Claude Wilks, Lori Lambertsen, David Wilks, Susan Huff and Jimmy Wilks; and also Rylan Vandyke. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Kenova.
