He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Emmett and Margaret Kilgore Whitt; his son Chan Mason Whitt Jr.; his siblings, Warren Whitt, Madeline, Wilma, Macel, Ether and Mildred; his granddaughter Macie Dove; his close friend Marshall Hoke; and his pet Greybouy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Priscilla "Pris" Whitt Woodrum, Carol "Pink" Whitt-Schingen, Melissa "Beautiful" Whitt, Chancie "Bootsy" Whitt, Dawn "Dawn Dawn" Christa Whitt, Gereta "Gigi'Dove (Doug) and Lil Melissa Hoke; the mother of his children Gereta "Sue" Hampton; and his sister Janice Richards (John). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews.
