He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Harrison and Zernie Alice VanMeter (Alt); his son Gregory VanMeter; his grandson Stump; his great grandchild Matthew VanMeter; and his brothers, Calvin, Emmit, Archy, David and Ronnie VanMeter.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Mae VanMeter (Brantner); his children, Jenny Stump (Randy) of Moorefield, WV, Lisa Taylor (Zack) of Old Fields, WV, Morris VanMeter of Dorcas, WV, Rick VanMeter (Jean) of Cabins, WV and Randy VanMeter (Dorene) of Cabins, WV; his stepchildren, Amaleasa Allamong (Roger) of Fountain, WV and Danny Willis (Selina) of Romney, WV; and his siblings, Zadie Helmick of New Market, VA, Evelyn Bergeron of Romney, WV, Judy Helmick of Petersburg, WV and Donald VanMeter (Rose) of Cabins, WV. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
