He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Birk and Edna May Ellifritz (Catlett); his wife Juanita Ellifritz (Harris); his daughter Joyce Elaine Alford; his siblings, James, George, Harold "Pete", Samuel, Harry, Jr., Frederick Ellifritz, Judith Reynolds, Betty Couch, Juanita Whittaker, Mary Canan and Bonnie Jenkins; and his half-sister Violet Divelbliss.
He is survived by: his children, Sheila Marie Parrish of North Carolina and Ronald E. Ellifritz of North Carolina; and his sisters, Shelby Jean Heckert of Burlington, Lois Rohrbaugh of Keyser and Patsy High of Purgitsville, WV. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
