He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Whitmer and Mildred Gladden Kief. He is survived by: his wife Melody Whitmer (Turner); his children, William Whitmer, Jr., C. J. Summers, Ashley Whitmer and Brooke Whitmer; his siblings, Eugene, Joe Funkhouser, Jerry Jr., Tommy Whitmer, Ellen Newcome and Debbie Curtis; and his stepparents, Deborah Whitmer, Greg Kief and Dallas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
