He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene VanSickle and Hazel VanSickle. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his children, Brent (Bridgett), Nichole (Jeff), Lisa (Jamie), Rebecca, Gene (Jessica), Jennette (Dustin) and Sarah (Josh); and his siblings, Larry, Carlene and Janet (Frank).

To honor his memory, the family suggests donations be made in his name for colon cancer research.
