He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Orlando and Mildred Guinevere Hull Withers; his former wife Eileen DeBarr Withers; his son-in-law Bob Smallridge; his stepson Samuel Grant Crites; and his siblings, Fred, Scott Withers and Avis.

He is survived by: his wife Ellnora Crites Withers; his children, Mike (Beth Withers) of Morganton, GA, Pam Smallridge of Buckhannon and Bobbi (Steve Halterman) of Buckhannon; his stepdaughter Lois Christine (Clarence Bright) of Braxton County; his grandchildren, R. J. (Anne Smallridge), Drew Smallridge, Erik (Nicole Withers), Andy Withers and Eli Withers; his great grandchildren, Alex, Ami, Madison, Madilynn, Dylan David, Declan and Adrianne; his grandchildren, Travis (Erica Crites), Tahsha (Timothy Crawley), Jessica (Elwood Smith) and Joelleen Bidwell; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Dakota, Sage, Cherith (Dustin), Alyvia Grace, Selah (James), Titus, Josiah, Hosanna, Levon and Harper; and his great great grandchildren, Asaph and Eliza. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Rock Cave Cemetery.
