He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert E. Ryan and Olive J. Bankhead Ryan; his sister Thelma Teddi Everly; his brothers-in-law, Edgar Emerson and Bobby Everly; and his parents-in-law, Herbert Shafer and Vertrude Shafer.
He is survived by: his wife Vivian Leah Shafer Ryan; his daughters, Nancy Lilly (Jon), Patti Miller (Tim), Cindy Nolan, Katie Conley of Bruceton Mills and Becky DesJardins (Zach) of Minot, ND; his grandchildren, Mary Beth, Casey Waigand, Megan, Graham Dearien, Thomas Lilly, Simon Miller, Bryce Nolan, Brennan Nolan, Abby Nolan, Alex Conley, Paxton Conley, Analise Ryan Sypolt and Drake DesJardins; his great grandchildren, Cass, Silas and Max; his sister Nellie (Dale Kelley); and his sisters-in-law, Corel Shafer and Hannah Reese (William). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
