He was predeceased by: his parent George Skidmore; his brother Lewis Skidmore; and his half-brothers, Bailey Donato and Frank Donato. He is survived by: his parent Willa Skidmore (Riffle); his wife Lucille Skidmore (Claypool); his children, Joseph Michael Skidmore, Jr of Bridgeport and Robin Tonkin of Jane Lew; and his grandchildren, Tessa Lynn Skidmore, Chasity Ann Skidmore, Adrian Keyshawn Ramsey, Asia Nicole Ramsey, Andrew Blake Clutter, Bentley James Cunningham and Michael Veon Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
