He was predeceased by: his parents, John Andrew Hedrick, Sr. and Marjorie Ellen Hedrick; and his brother Terry Hedrick. He is survived by: his significant other Vera Hedrick of Virginia; his children, Michelle Louise Hudnall (Patrick Hudnall) and Melyssa Ellen Nilsson (Karl Nilsson); his grandchildren, Eliana Grace Hudnall, Cameron Frasier Hudnall, Jack Isaiah Nilsson and Layne Alexander Nilsson; and his siblings, Thomas Hedrick, Michael Hedrick, Janet Hedrick, Richard Hedrick and Ronald Hedrick. He is also survived by cousin that John coined an honorary little sister, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
