He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard T. Hawkins and Emma Coplin Hawkins; his siblings, Katharine Robinson and Thomas Hawkins; and his niece Deborah Armstrong.
He is survived by: his spouse Vietta Fleming Hawkins; his children, Sandra L. Valdez (Mike) of Galax, VA and Dr. Randall Hawkins (Jennifer) of Point Pleasant, WV; his grandson Jonathan Hawkins of Washington, DC; his children, Christopher Hawkins of Morgantown, Trevor and Tate of Morgantown; and his stepgrandsons, Justin Valdez and Christopher Valdez of Texas.
It is requested by the family that no flowers be sent and any remembrances should be made for Alzheimer's Research at alz.org.
