He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter Simmons and Iva Simmons (Painter); his spouse Agnes M. Varner Simmons; his children, Janet L. Roberson (Lowell) of Weyers Cave, VA and David W. Simmons (Christina) of Brandywine, WV; his grandchildren, Tonia Hedrick (Matt), Trisha Knicely (Dennis), Amanda Smith (Greg) and Amber Brown (Justin); his great grandchildren, Connor, Carrigan, Corinne Hedrick, Jenna Anderson, Adalyn and Brynlee Smith; his daughter Carla Sue Simmons; and his siblings, William Miller and Doretha "Dot" Sinnett.
