He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence L. Mellon, Sr. and Doris Medlin Melllon; and his brothers, Lawrence, Bud and Eulan.

He is survived by: his daughter Terri Mellon; and his brother Ruben Miller Mellon of Charlotte. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
