He is survived by: his wife Agnes Atwell; his children, Paul David Atwell (Gennie) of Kings Mt, James Miles Atwell Jr. of Lex, WV, Jennifer Michell of Jolo, Amanda Jones of Lenior, NC and Joshua Samuel Miles Atwell of Slate Creek, VA; his grandchildren, Austin Mitchell of Jolo, Alexis Jones of Lenior, NC, Emily Mitchell of Jolo, Brody Jones of Lenior, NC and Rhylie Locust of Kings Mt; and his siblings, Daniel Atwell of Lex, Richard Atwell (Linda) of Columbus, OH, Barbara Payne (Eddie) of Lex and Lori Atwell of Mt. Holly, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 7:00 AM. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Fanning Funeral Home (4299 Coal Heritage Rd, Iaeger, WV 24844).
