He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert H. Dinger and Lettie Hall Dinger; and his siblings, Esther Dinger, Kyle, Ward, Arless and Fred Dinger.

He is survived by: his wife Sarah; his children, Ronda Fay Dinger, Sandra Cochran (Eddie) of Bluefield, WV, Donald Dinger (Connie) of Bluefield, WV, Michael Dinger (Cindy) of Bluefield, WV and Gerald Dinger (Jerry) of Bluefield, WV; and his sister Ella Maye Dinger Proffitt of Pigeon Forge, TN. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
