He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl W. Finley, Sr. and Frankie Mickels Finley; his wife Ruby; his former wife Peggy; and his siblings, Evelyn Martin and Earl Finley.

He is survived by: his grandsons, Alex Mooney of Huntington, WV and Jordan Mooney (Hannah) of Bluefield, WV; his great grandchildren, Tucker and Trace Mooney; his siblings, David M. Finley, Carl W. Finley, Jr., Walter "Smiley" Finley and Lorraine Lester; his friend Robert Taylor; and his pets, Lizzy and Charlie.
