John Caywood Obituary
John Nelson Caywood, 71, of Bluefield passed away peacefully on Friday, August 10th, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease at Nelson Home Care in Princeton.
Born June 26th, 1947 in Prescott, Arizona, he was the son of Frances Patton Irons of Union and the late Don Caywood. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of the National Guard. He was of the Presbyterian faith and had been a resident of Bluefield since 1971 moving from Monroe County. He was preceded in death by niece, Jessica Woodruff. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Bowyer Caywood of Bluefield; two sons, John“Jay“Caywood Jr. and wife Cassandra of Alaska, and Jeff Caywood and wife Romy of Bluefield; two grandsons, Andrew and Jakob Caywood; one brother, Robert Irons and wife Beckie of Sinks Grove; two sisters, Jeanine Beiber and partner Karen of Charlottesville, VA and Janet Metcalf of Cumberland, MD; several nieces and nephews; special friend Mona Wood; and excellent caregivers, Shelby Nelson, Regina and Tammy. Special thanks also to the great services provided by Hospice/Amedysis and Chris Parsons. In honoring Mr. Caywood’s wishes he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
