He is survived by: his wife Virginia Marie Prater; his children, Virginia Lynn Prater Atwell (Charles) of Lex, WV, Jerry Lee Prater, Jr. (Donna Brewster) of Newhall, WV, Mollie Jo Justice (Earnie) of Bluefield, WV, Jessica Ann Prater (Valerie Davila-Perez) of Newton, NC and Ruth Ellen McCrary (Corey Brown) of Catawba, NC; his siblings, Chris Prater of Raleigh, NC, Gerald Prater (Denise) of Kimball, WV, Ellen Prater (David Robinson) of Tazewell, VA, Marie Grose (Rodger Baldwin) of War, WV and Gaynell Walker (Danny Stinson) of Avondale, WV; his close friend Anthony Wallace of War, WV; and his brother-in-law Doug White (Christina) of Marion, VA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
