She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Thomason and Ina Ruth Basham Thomason; her husband Walton Akers; her sons, Barry Keith Akers and Alan Wayne Akers; and her brother Glenn Thomason.
She is survived by: her daughters, Deanna Carol Zade of Bluefield and Terri Lynn Celmer of Illinois; and her siblings, Clayton Lilly of Rock and Rae Dois Fry of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
