He was predeceased by: his son Dexter Mitchell; and his brother William "George" Smalls, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Mary Kate Stillwell Smalls of Bluefield; his wife Marjorie Smalls; his children, Keesha Smalls, Crystal Smalls, Kwame Gravely, Derrick Showalter (Amanda) and Erick Showalter; his siblings, Ella "Flookie" Smalls, Sherri Smalls, Hugh Smalls (Jeanie) and Coasta Smalls (Nickie); his grandchildren, Sencere Fields, Dexter Mitchell "Lil" DC, Jamel Floyd, Jhauntea Mitchell, Miranda Lusk, Deion Cooper, Kingston Bufford, Erick Jr., Ezekiel Showalter, Serenity Showalter, Janyah Showalter and Grayson Showalter; his brother Arial Showalter; his great grandchildren, Sienna and Duke; his siblings-in-law, Matthew Mitchell (Sam), Leroy Mitchell (Ann) and Nannette Hearn; and his close friends, Peewee Mitchell, Vince Reynolds, Vick Peoples and Regina Simmons. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends.
