He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Hugh Lewis and Ressie Darlene Kyle Lewis; his brother Gregory H. Lewis; his nephew Christopher Tackett; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Cook.

He is survived by: his children, Jayme Artrip (Derek) of Morgantown, Dillon Lewis of Dailey and Brandon Lewis of Elkins; his siblings, Donald G. Lewis (Rita) of White Mills, KY, Mary L. Cook of Elkins, Robert J. Lewis (Becky) of Beverly, Brenda L. Tackett (Rick) of Mill Creek and Terry K. Lewis (Debbie) of Arnold, MD.; and his pet Riley.
