He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Bienen and Nadja Bienen; his daughter Laura Bienen; and his brother Barry Bienen. He is survived by: his wife L. Alison D. Carter; his daughter Janet Bienen (Charles Arnaud); and his granddaughter Ashley Bienen.
