John Franklin Bassford Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Franklin Bassford of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, born in Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away on September 21, 2023 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Franklin and Lillian Louise Holbrook Bassford; his wife Carolyn Cecelia Enders Bassford; and his sisters, Barbara Carter and Beatrice Hannahs.
He is survived by: his children, Joan Sperlein (William Breighner) of Spring Grove, PA, Virginia Vogt (Keith) of Bel Air, MD, D. Gill Sperlein, Jr. of San Francisco, CA, John F. Bassford, Jr. (Lynn) of Severn, MD and Ruth Bassford (Douglas Hebden) of Reisterstown, MD; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Kardos, Benjamin Kardos, Kristine Vogt, Luke Bassford and Maxwell Basford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
