He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Boyd "Mutt" and Margaret Virginia "Ginny" Hovermale Rankin; and his brother Melvin D. Rankin. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Scardino Rankin; his children, Tammy L. Coleman (William) of Virginia Beach, VA, Faith V. Logsdon (Kent) of Fenton, MO and Alan D. Rankin (Kristin) of Virginia Beach, VA; his grandchildren, Christina Myers, Angela Goodman, Megan Edlinger (Michael), Corwin Logsdon (Ashley) and Morgan Logsdon; and his great grandchildren, Alexis Arrington, Layla Goodman, Coleman Edlinger and Aiden Logsdon.
