He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Shirley and Catherine Shirley; his wife Barbara "Barb" Shirley; and his brothers, Ardell "Tuck" Stotler, Donald Shirley and R. "Dick" Shirley.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert "Bobby" Shirley (Pam) and Lynn Shirley (Kim); and his sister Janet "Sis" Andrews. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. (13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD 21722). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
