He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brinkman and Gertrude "Ruth" Brinkman (Ehler); and his siblings, Charles "Bill" Brinkman and Hannah Jo Goundry. He is survived by: his wife Linda (Mikasen); his brothers, Michael L. Brinkman of Benwood, WV, Steven Edward Brinkman of Benwood, WV and Bruce Joseph Brinkman (Joey) of Benwood, WV; his sisters-in-law, Karen Anderson (David) of Pickerington, OH and Tamara Jo Brinkman of Moundsville, WV; his nieces, Alexis, Brittany and Lauren; his nephew Jordan; and his uncles, Charles E. Ehler (Sharen) of Wheeling, WV and John Pennacchio of Weirton, WV.. He is also survived by other extended family members and friends.
