He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edgar and Malissie Blossfield Steele; his siblings, Johnny Steele, Elizabeth Snodgrass and Margarette Bowen; and his grandson Nicholas Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Emma Steele; his children, Richard (Rhonda Steele), John Steele of Georges Creek, Bill (Wendy Steele), Teresa (Shane Smith) and Patricia (Brandon Whaples); his sister Pearl Turner of North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Heath of New Albany, Holly of New Albany, Hunter Steele of New Albany, Jonathon Steele of Tennessee, Thomas Steele of South Charleston, Zachary Steele of Georges Creek, Tanya Hogan of Spanaway, Raechelle Steele of Spanaway, Autumn Smith of Winifrede, Stephanie Snyder of Guntersville, Kattie Black of Cross Lanes, Malissie Caruthers of Nitro and Morgan Whaples of Nitro. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
