Robert Junior Hamrick Obituary
Robert J. "Bob" A.K.A., Pap Hamrick, age 71, a resident of Belington, passed from this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at his home, his death was sudden and very unexpected.
He was born into this life on November 3, 1950, in Elkins, WV., a son to the late Robert Lincoln Hamrick and Lydia (Ray) Hamrick.
Surviving are his children, Wayne Hamrick, Mariah Hamrick, and wife Ashley, of Belington, WV., he was a step-in father to Darius Andrew Humphrey, and Trevor James Humphrey. Also surviving are his siblings, Gary Cummings, Wilson Cummings, and Charlotte Cummings.
Bob attended the schools of Randolph County; he was graduate from Elkins High School with the class of 1975. Mr. Hamrick proudly served in the Marine Corps with an honorable discharge on August 11, 1972, when he returned, he finished up his high school education. He went to work at Davis and Elkins College where he enjoyed cooking. Pap loved being outdoors, hunting, and fishing one of his favorite places to fish was at Teter Creek Lake. He also loved feeding, and watching birds, one of his favorite bird was a Gold Finch, Bob had a love for hiking and sleigh riding. He was a faithful member of the Weaver Nazarene Church. His favorite verse was from Psalms 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. When things go well, and the sun is shining, and we have just received a wonderful surprise or had some encouraging news of a dear loved one how we rejoice and how our hearts are full of praise to the Lord.". Pap loved to ride his power chair through the streets of Belington, chatting with everyone he met. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Mr. Hamrick wishes for cremation will be honored. Family and friends may gather at the Weaver Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 5pm until 8 pm and a celebration of his life will be at 8 pm at the church with Pastor Johnny P. Williams as the celebrant. Following the celebration of life Bob will receive full military honors by the Belington American Legion Post 96. The Kittle Family Funeral Home of Philippi is honored to be assisting the Hamrick Family with the arrangements.
