Jackie Hymes wrote a sympathy message

“Johnny was the first we knew of anyone who had polio. We were getting the polio shot or sugar cube at that time to prevent us from contacting the disease. God bless this heroic young man for all he went through and helped the rest of us understand the results of Polio. Family, I am so sorry. His Daddy was our insurance man for many years. Blessing and honor, Jackie Conte-Hymes”
