He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Leonard Sweeney and Ruby Vesta Foster Sweeney; his wife Geraldine Sweeney; his son Boyd Walter Sweeney; and his sister Shirley.
He is survived by: his children, James Blankenship (Gina) of Mount Hope, Catherine Ellis of Hurricane, Charles Sweeney Jr. (Ann) of Vonore, TN and Beverly Wickline (Joe) of Beckley; and his grandchildren, Jamie Remy, Amanda Floyd, Jeremy Blankenship, Crissy Ward, Rustyn Boothe, Kelly Moore, Brittany Sweeney, Brooke Mastrostefano, Charles Sweeney III, Tyler Sweeney, Cody Wickline and Caleb Wickline.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Beckley Peace Chapel (1901 S Kanawha St, Beckley, WV 25801). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
