She was predeceased by: her parents, Lilburn Howell and Thelma Howell; her husband Charles William Slate; her brother Roger Howell; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Lambert and Frank Deskins.
She is survived by: her sons, Steven (LaDonna) and Lilburn Kyle (Jessica); her siblings, Judy Lambert, Barbara Deskins, Ronnie (Darlene) and Merlon (Shirle); her grandchildren, Randi (Athen), Robbie (Tiffany), Maggie (Chase), Tristan and Quentin; and her great grandchildren, Noah, Cierra, Hazelynn, Bryson, Alex and Cameron.
