She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Steele and Genevieve Wright Steele; her husband Benjamin Gates; and her brother Thomas Steele. She is survived by: her sons, Bryan Gates (Cindy) of Poca, Glen Gates of Leon and Doug Gates (Libby) of Nitro; and her sisters, Joann Harris of Chesapeake, VA. and Anita Young of Chesapeake, VA.. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
