It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel R. Brown of Ballard, West Virginia, who passed away on August 9, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Samuel R. Brown to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel R. Brown Sr. and May Heslep Brown. He is survived by: his wife Betty Brookman Brown; his stepdaughter Lori Claytor Riddle of Pearisburg, VA; his grandchildren, Tyler Riddle of Morgantown, WV and Audrey Riddle of Radford, VA; his siblings-in-law, Bill Brookman (Judy) of Hardy, VA and Bonnie Sutton of Brooklet, GA; his cousins, Mary Alice Belcher and Diane Keaton; and his pet Blackie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Sonny's name to the Ballard Volunteer Fire Department (P.O. Box 105, Ballard, WV 24918).

“I am so sorry for your family's loss of a very nice man. I met him in 1983 while visiting family nearby Bettie and Early Humphreys. It was then that he and I shared a dream of restoring the 1970 Superbird that he purchased as a parts car. After owning that car myself since 2005 it was completed and I had just talked to him about it approximately two weeks ago. I was hoping he would see it in its completely restored condition. God speed Mr. Brown.”
