He was predeceased by: his parents, L. K. "Bill" Johnston, Jr. and Roena Frances Cheatwood Johnston. He is survived by: his son Steve Johnston (Drema) of Ballard, WV; his brothers, Gordon Johnston (Tammy) of Stuart's Draft, VA and Terry Johnston of Chattanooga, TN; and his grandchildren, Ashley Hardymon (Doug) of Parrott, VA, Amy Young (Logan) of Ballard, WV and Melissa Mathena (Ryan) of Bozoo, WV. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
