He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Mitchell and Dona Lee Addair Hughes; and his siblings, Shirley Faye Hughes, Roy and Roger Hughes.
He is survived by : his children, Raymond Hughes Jr. of Sycamore, AL and Lori Ann Smeltzer (Gary); his siblings, Della Hatfield of Iaeger, WV, Louise Brown of Bland, VA, Lucille Russell of Elkton, MD, Barbara Ann Pruett of Bland, VA, Ray Hughes of Bybee, TN, Ralph Hughes of Skokie, IL and Ronald Hughes of Avondale, WV; his grandchildren, Christopher A. Hutting II, Eric E. Collins, Kearstin M. Smeltzer, Jessie Jarrell and Heather Jarrell; his great grandchildren, Maddie Hutting, Antony Hutting, Hayden Jarrell and Wyatt Stewart; and his pet Roscoe. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
