He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Gower and Catherine Gower (Jones); his children, Joseph Allen Gower, Jr., Amy R. Arbogast and Catherine Blystone; his siblings, William "Bill" Gower, Clarence Gower and Alice Hartsell; and his daughter Martha Jane Matheny (Close).
He is survived by: his sons, Larry Gower (Audrey White) of Levels, WV and Tommy Gower (Tina) of Augusta, WV; his sister Mary Pierson of Arthurdale, WV; his close friend Bob Pyles; and his pet Boo. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Pappy's memory to the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home, 105 Highland Ave, Terra Alta, WV 26764 to help the family with funeral expenses.
