He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Platter and Velma Pearl Platter (Groves); his former wives, Bernice Gibson and Mary Florence; his wife Lillie M. Crites; and his stepdaughter Bernadette McDermott.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Platter Jr. of Point Pleasant, NJ, Terry Lettau of Hampstead, MD, Michael Platter of Marathon, FL and Barbara Yoder of Columbia, SC; and his sisters, Peggy Leasher of Grantsville, MD and Carol Frickey of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
