He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Wears and Lear Butler Wears; his grandparents, Roy and Marthjane Butler; his sons, Derrick Shelley and Brent Butler; and his brothers, Earlen "Bud" Wears and Larry Wears.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Butler; his children, Dustin Shelley (Shannon Shaffer), John Doldd, David Dodd, Jacob Butler, Sabrina Dooley, Sharma Lott and Jessie Summers; his sisters, Geraldine Skinner, Barbara Honas, Connie Crawford and Sherri Wears; and his close friend Frank Butler. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
