He was predeceased by: his former wife Helen; his grandson Cagun; and his brother Herbert Vandall. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Marlin Jr. (Angie), Charles Vandall and Katrina Hensley (Scott); and his stepchildren, Thomas Johnston (Wendy), Jennifer Seeley (James) and Melinda Kline (Tim). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
