He was predeceased by: his wife Ella Rae; his son Rev. Michael Fitzwater; and his parents, Rev. Eldon and Katie Backus Fitzwater. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Taylor (Joe), Janet Dunlap (Dennis), Jackie Lanham (Mark) and Mary Fitzwater; his grandchildren, Rob Dunlap (Denise), Angela Pritchett (Bob), BJ Taylor (Kris), Jay Dunlap (Sarah), Anita Sturgill (Dave), Chaplain Matt Lanham (Alex), Katie Fitzwater, Allison (Derek), Wesley and Shae; his siblings, William, Tom Fitzwater and Audrey Meickles; and his daughter-in-law Chaplain Phyllis Fitzwater.
