He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ash and Verna Ash; and his sister JoAnn. He is survived by: his spouse Thelma Belle Thomas; his children, Bradley James Ash (Linda), Paula Marie Keplinger (Russell), Robert Bruce Ash (Brenda), Bryan Ervin Ash (Tena Forrester), Pamela Kay Moore (Myron) and William Brent Ash (Shirlyn); his sister Bessie Warner; and his siblings-in-law, Florence Schmidt, Paul Thomas (Alicia) and Lawrence Thomas (Donna Jean). He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Jim and Thelma's memory to the WV FFA Foundation Scholarship Fund, c/o Don Michael, 860 Bar Run Road, Ravenswood, WV 26164.
