She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Preston and Shirley Preston (Nelson); her stepfather Elton Johnson; her sister-in-law Audrey Preston; and her nephew Brad Preston.

She is survived by: her son Nathan (Leah); her grandchildren, Mara, Merrick and Nori; her brothers, Dennis Preston (Carol) and Dan Preston; her nieces and nephews, Stacy Hilmanowske (Scott), Heather Jo Preston (Clifford) and Jordan Preston; and her former husband Paul Zimmer.

She enjoyed taking photos at holidays and family gatherings, and practiced writing in calligraphy until Parkinson's made it difficult.
