He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Lawrence Hesse and Alma. He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Vitcenda); his children, Jane (Scott Lagger), Ann (John Desens) and Peter (Missy Hesse); his brothers, Robert Hesse (Carol) and John Hesse (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Sam Lagger, Emma Lagger, Ted Lagger, Cate Desens, Jack Desens, Joe Hesse and Tom Hesse.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeland Food Pantry.
