He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Koenig and Leona Koenig (Watson); and his sister Audrey Edwards (John). He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Stollberg; his children, Gary Koenig (Patsy), Debbi Long, Glen Koenig and Dawn Gilbertson (Dennis); his son-in-law Steve Long; his grandchildren, Eric Koenig, Kristina Olson (Zach), Andrew Long, Amanda Rew (Tim), Aime Geier (Casey), Brandon Wolff (Ali), Kieara Koenig, Karson Koenig, Brenda Ashton (Ryan) and Brett Gilbertson; and his great grandchildren, Grady, Gracy, Emma Calla, Riley and Addison.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made in Howard's name to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
