He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Honkomp and Donna Honkomp (Solie); his daughter Amy; and his brother Steven Honkomp. He is survived by: his wife Joy A. Bruley; his children, James Honkomp (Tonia), Denise Smazal (Greg) and Heidi Kowle; his grandchildren, Michael Smazal (Samantha), Shane Smazal (Kayla), Brooklyn Ceplina (Tim Kromenaker), Rayanne Kowle (Jake Wallman), Jessi Kowle and Luke Kowle; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie Alarie, Payson Smazal, Parker Smazal and Colin Kromenaker; and his siblings, Mark Honkomp (Sherri), Carole Haferman (Tom), Lynn Peterson (Mark) and Lori Brozik (Curt). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to "Incourage Community Foundation", or the charity of your choosing.
