He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Norman "Chuck", Mary Helke and Martin Mertz. He is survived by: his parents, Arthur Mertz and Patricia Mertz (Losievski); his wife Misty Brusoe; his sons, Joshua Mertz (Sarah) and Matthew Mertz; his grandsons, Oliver and Joseph Mertz; and his brothers, Christopher Mertz (Shannon), Mitchell Mertz (Kristen) and Michael Mertz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many friends.
