He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Nelson and Stella Nelson (Hoover); his wife Sharon Heitzinger; his daughter Terra Nelson; and his brothers, Robert Nelson, Richard Nelson and Jim Nelson.
He is survived by: his former wife Judy Wilson; his children, Jennifer Miller (Nathaniel) and Ryan Nelson; his stepson Michael Hertzinger; his grandchildren, Posey Miller and Hana Miller; his former wife Judy Nelson; and his siblings, David Nelson (Flaviana), John Nelson and Donna Winch (Maurice). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gary's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
