He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin DeByl and Rosella DeByl (Robl); and his brother-in-law Rick Potter. He is survived by: his wife Debra DeByl (Bowman); his daughter Alisha Golec (Ryan); and his siblings, Merlin DeByl Jr. (Diana), Sandra DeByl and Mare DeByl (Dan Pixler). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society.
