He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his son James Maleski; his grandson Dylan Vandrovec; and his son-in-law Steve Vandrovec. He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl Breit (Rodney) and Mary Vandrovec; his grandchildren, Rachel, Erica, Jodelle, Michael, Matthew, Ana, Claire and Jared; his great grandchildren, Alexis, Jordan, Kayleigh, Ashton, Benjamin and Katherine; and his great great grandchildren, Rae, Riley and Rosie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked for memorials to be made in Bernard's honor to St. Lawrence Catholic church, or the Disabled American Veterans charity.
