He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Marie Kies (Wilmot); and his nephew Chad Allen Kies. He is survived by: his wife Carrie Norton; his daughters, Riley and Morgan; his pet Ivy; his father Jerome "Jerry" Kies; his brother Bill Kies (Donna); his nieces and nephews, Alissa and Heather; his sister Marcia Lisney (Kevin); his nieces and nephews, Taylor and Marty Lisney (Missy); his sister-in-law Becky Jensen (Tom); his nephews, Colin and Trenton; his parents-in-law, Tim and Pat Norton; and also, Dani McMillan (Dan) and Ryker. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jim to the Winneconne parks.
